The determination of the position of the tube of a computer tomograph is an essential attribute for the functionality of the equipment, which currently is achieved, for example, using a slotted metal plate. The precision of this solution depends upon how precisely the metal plate was mechanically produced. Fine slots are difficult to manufacture and are thus expensive as well as very difficult to install and maintain.
Bogen's created a prototype of a rotary sensor upon which magnetic tape was applied for a renowned manufacturer of such equipment.
The magnetization of the rotary sensor was done axially to minimize the influence of the magnetic fields of the linear motor.
