When magnetic cards and tickets are being produced in large quantities, they are usually fitted with magnetic basic information. This information is applied at high speed through the Bogen magnetic heads. Up to 30,000 cards and tickets can be written per hour. It is important for high quality manufacturing results that there is optimal contact between the card and the magnetic head, even at the highest speed. To assure this, many customers use gimbals, and together with the ceramic coating, this provides for excellent longevity of the heads.

For other utilisations, concrete personal data such as name and address is applied to the magnetic strips (for instance, for payback and loyalty cards) and then read in postal processing equipment using Bogen magnetic heads.
